Dody DiSanto is founding director of the Center for Movement Theatre, a training program dedicated to actor preparation of the body, the imagination and the art of collaboration located in Washington, DC where she is also long-time faculty at The Shakespeare Theatre’s Academy for Classical Acting.
Dody is an esteemed protégé of the late Jacques Lecoq and carries forward his pedagogy, entrusting the body to be the prime element in the journey from life to the theater. This is an approach, rather than a method – one that implores the student to discover and develop their creativity and proficiency through the dynamic rhythms and movement of life. Dody has been nationally certified for Massage Therapy and Bodywork for 30 years. She also created, owned, and managed an internationally acclaimed music venue The 9:30 Club in Washington DC from 1980-87.
