Mime Radio Show
David Gaines
David Gaines studied at the Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris, France, and was a founding member of the Moving Picture Mime Show – a London-based movement theatre company that toured Europe and the world to great acclaim for 10 years.
He was then invited by Monsieur Lecoq to return to Paris to teach alongside him at the school – an invitation he willingly accepted. It was during this time that Mr. Gaines honed his skills in the art of teaching the Lecoq approach to acting, improvisation, mask-work, mime, clown, and commedia dell-arte that has earned the school its reputation among theatre cognoscenti.
Upon his return to the US, he taught at the graduate school of theatre at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He now teaches (happily) in the Theatre Department of George Mason University in the Washington DC area.
As a writer and director, he has developed and directed shows for companies in England, Paris, and Salzburg.
As a clown, he works for Healthy Humor Inc., in their clown care program at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC.
His most recent solo performance pieces are: “A Little Business At the Big Top”, and “7 (x 1) Samurai”, which has won awards and sold out houses at Theatre and Fringe Festivals all across the continent.
