Maurizius Staerkle Drux
Maurizius Staerkle Drux is a celebrated Swiss-German filmmaker and sound artist based in Zurich. Influenced by musical instruments and sign language he moves between the worlds of language and images, which come together in film. His debut film CONCRETE LOVE was shown in over 30 countries and won multiple awards. Since 2017, he has been imparting his passion for film and sound, as a lecturer at the Zurich University of the Arts.
In 2022 Maurizius made the stunning film THE ART OF SILENCE: a documentary studying the life of legendary mime Marcel Marceau. The tragic background behind Marceau’s work has remained hidden for a long time. THE ART OF SILENCE sheds new light on his life and unique art form, which his family and companions keep alive to this day.
Maurizius says, “I grew up with a deaf father. From an early age, my visual attention was nurtured, because my life sometimes resembled a silent movie.”
